Sorry for the lack of posts... I didn't feel like anyone was reading. Then I realized that even if there are only 4 people reading my posts... it's 4 people I can either expose something to, or learn from.
So here I am.
I'm back.
Writing theses things out and hearing back from you, really helps me to better understand what's going on. I almost lost hope in everything for a while. I wasn't watching the news, wasn't reading as much... I just felt like every time I did the pit in my stomach grew. I know it's not the end of the world to a have a spend happy liberal super majority, but it sure feels like it with this global financial crisis.
I thought everyone was going crazy thinking this spending monstrosity was a good idea... then today a glimmer of hope... http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/11/nervous.dems/index.html
even some democrats are starting to realize...
we'll see where everything goes from here.
but I'm back...
I figure the only things I can do are...
A. Get the word out to people I know (if blogging is one of those ways, so be it)
B. Write/Call/Contact my Senators
C. Be informed
D. Vote
I'm going to do what I can.
one little blog post at a time...

“Americans, often acting through voluntary organizations, should have the opportunity to solve many of the social problems of their communities. This spirit of freely helping others is uniquely American and should be encouraged in every way by government.” - Ronald Reagan

Why is it RUSH RUSH RUSH all of the sudden? Why do both Republicans and now Democrats want the economy fixed so fast?
The world is falling apart because of Bush - it took a long time for us to get into this mess, and it's going to take a long time for us to get out ot it.
Rich people are slamming Obama for not fixing the economy yet - but they do not invest or take their money out of tax shelters in the Cayman islands to pay US taxes, something that the rest of us must do every single year.
I sense that the majority of people who voted for Obama (poor folks) have an amazing ability to be EXTREMELY patient, where the rich do not.
Just because the rich are starting to feel a little pinch now, doesn't mean that we should cowtoe to their demands, and RUSH RUSH RUSH - rushing is precisely what got us into this mess.
So sit back -
SHUT UP -
and enjoy the ride.
Like it or not - we are in this together for the long-haul.
I voted for Obama - and fall into the definitely "lower middle-class" bracket AKA: poor. I can be patient. I was living on a budget before, I'll continue to do so now. I don't expect the economy to be completely overhauled and made better overnight.
But I also realize that throwing money at the problem is NOT always the answer. Sure, it can help in certain situations, but more pet projects tucked into huge stimulus and health care bills will just make the national debt worse - which will eventually come back to bite us. If I have to live on a budget, so should the U.S. Government.
Of course we're in it for the long haul, but it is a mistake to think that only rich people are educated enough to see that neither party has answers right now. Let's see some fresh ideas!
Heids I love your posts, especially since I always agree with your thoughts. You are much more informed on the topics than I am, and I appreciate learning from you.
Keep them coming!!
I am Rachel's bro. Glad to see the posts back. We have a similar blog at www.blurtdaily.com. Check it out. Obama needs to slow down and focus on the one thing that truly matters. No not stem cell research, funding for international abortions, all the earmarks, I could go on forever. He put tax cheats into his cabinet posts and now can't fill the rest. He needs to focus on getting the treasury fully staffed and setting the environment for the market to heal itself, which it will do over time. The stock market is down some 25% since he took office and started spending like crazy and promising to raise taxes and eliminate deductions for purchasing homes and charitable giving. Meanwhile he's signing a budget with 7500 earmarks and going back on a compaign promise. I don't understand how his ratings haven't plummeted. The things he should be doing is opening up more free trade agreements, stop throwing money at the Big 3, and cut taxes rather than raising them.
Dan, I'm sorry but you don't know what you are talking about. Yes, Bush made HUGE mistakes that got us into this mess but Obama is making the same mistakes at an exponentially higher rate.
The rich aren't the ones who want him to jump in and fix everything. Why would they seek help from someone who is going to tax the life out of them?
And for the most part, rich people are rich because they are smart with their money. They are not going to invest in something that is broken, something that will give them no return on investment, something that will take everything and give nothing.
...and in everything you are saying you are assuming the rich and the poor are two distinct groups - completely unrelated - unassociated. This is America. This is where the poor come to become rich. Many, many, many of the rich were the poor, and they only got to be "the rich" because they were and are patient, determined, smart, and savvy.
