“Americans, often acting through voluntary organizations, should have the opportunity to solve many of the social problems of their communities. This spirit of freely helping others is uniquely American and should be encouraged in every way by government.” - Ronald Reagan

More Options are ALWAYS nice...

I can breathe again. Another budget is being offered in Washington...
Here are their budget goals listed in the "Path to American Prosperity" - The House Republican Budget Alternative
(yes it's 65 pgs - and yes skimming and searching is always an option)
To Restore Growth, Jobs, and Economic Leadership. It supports a vibrant free-market sector by limiting the size and scope of government; it provides for low taxes and a competitive tax code; and it promotes a robust, diverse energy network that is under Americans’ control.
To Control the Nation’s Debts. It halts the borrow-and-spend philosophy that brought about today’s economic problems, and puts a stop to heaping ever-growing debts on future generations – and does so by controlling spending and not raising taxes.

Points I especially like:
Deficits. The budget achieves lower deficits than the Obama/Democratic budget in every year, and by 2019 yields half the deficit proposed in the President’s budget.

Taxes. The budget does not raise taxes. It also reduces the corporate tax to 25 percent from the current 35 percent, second-highest in the industrialized world. Finally, the budget holds the average tax burden to the historical average of about 18.3 percent of gross domestic product.

What do you thinK?

obviously the lower deficit sounds good. and the reduction from 35% to 25% corporate tax makes sense -- especially if we want to help companies keep and create jobs, and since President Obama wants to go after companies who outsource jobs- but hasn't provided any real incentive (besides his punitive disincentive).

i also like that no Republicans voted for the budget in the House or Senate, and was interested that several Democrats in both houses also opposed the budget.

Good move for the GOP on at least two counts: (1) the budget is bankrupting America's future, (2) the GOP can say they all opposed it and even offered alternatives...
