“Americans, often acting through voluntary organizations, should have the opportunity to solve many of the social problems of their communities. This spirit of freely helping others is uniquely American and should be encouraged in every way by government.” - Ronald Reagan

"We Know Best" Attitude - An Article from the AP

I told you it was creepy... Why does the govn think they know best?...

"WASHINGTON (AP) — A Senate Republican whose state is home to auto manufacturing plants says the Obama administration's aggressive intervention in the industry sets "a very dangerous precedent."

Sen. Bob Corker said it wasn't just the forced ouster of General Motors Corp. CEO Rick Waggoner that caused him concern. He accused the administration of taking a "we know best" attitude in connection with the problems in the domestic industry and said that should "send a chill throughout the country."

Interviewed Tuesday on CBS's "The Early Show," Corker charged that Waggoner's firing "was something of a sideshow to take away from the fact that no real progress" had been made in negotiations to steady the failing auto company.

Corker said, "We're evolving into a place that this country has not seen. I want to raise alarm bells."

Creepy....

I'm feeling the end of Capitalism.
Why do people have so much faith in the Government?

I'm just so sad that we all don't have more faith in each other, as a people...

I just hope with all this stimulus, that these huge auto industry dudes, and wall-street bankers don't have to manage their business according to government ideals because the we all know the government sucks at money.

Republicans come up with A PLAN

Republican's were getting beef for saying "no" all the time, so they came up with a proposal

"America stands again at a crossroads. The President’s budget would have us cast all of our cares and worries on a government we cannot afford while leaving our children and grandchildren crushing debt and exorbitant taxes. Many have called it the road to serfdom. Republicans choose a different path that offers freedom and prosperity for this generation and the next by allowing families to keep more of their own money to spend on their priorities. Our economic plan amounts to less government, lower taxes, and economic prosperity. We offer it for your consideration." <--- I love that they ask us for OUR consideration.... that hasn't happened yet. "Republicans believe that there is a far better way—one that promises freedom and prosperity. Our economic plan curbs spending, creates jobs and lowers taxes, and controls the debt; and it will soon have our economy
growing again."

"The Road to Recovery" is the document and "blueprint" of the GOP plan- see it here: http://www.gop.gov/solutions/budget/road-to-recovery-final

This is one of my favorite parts:
"[This plan] Ends the Bailouts and Reforms the Financial System Instead of nationalizing our financial system and heaping trillions of dollars of debt on future generations, Republicans want to protect taxpayers and provide a transparent recovery process that does not favor those that have made unsound business decisions."

Missile Defense

I'm researching now about missile defense in the US... more to come. Here's a film The Heritage Foundation produced about missile defense, click here to see the trailer. There is also a video below that about how missile defense works.

Please send me links and give me comments, I love your feedback.

Here's a fact I'm a little worried about "The new budget is fresh off an eight percent increase in
nondefense spending from the omnibus"

China takes over the world...

Anyone else nervous about China?

I was already nervous that we are borrowing money from a Communist Country, but now we have even more to speculate about... now, with their lack of military transparency.

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - China's failure to be transparent about its rapidly growing military capabilities has created uncertainty and risks of miscalculation, the Pentagon said in an annual report released on Wednesday..."
*source: http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSTRE52O5PX20090325

Remember the 60's?
Do you think the Democrats idol, JFK, would've borrowed money from China in our current situation?

*"The Pentagon analysis said China is developing weapons that would disable its enemies' space technology such as satellites, and boosting its electromagnetic warfare and cyber-warfare capabilities."

uh oh.

53% Obama... McCain 46%

53% voted Obama VS. 46% voted McCain

AKA: 46% of the US voting constituency doesn't agree with Obama policy and most likely doesn't like how our Super Liberal Majority in Congress is handling things either.

hmmmmm...
don't feel like you're alone.

I was excited... for a second - Small Business Loans

Obama is supposed to set up a Small Business Loan - Plan.

When I first heard this, I thought... well if you're going to spend all this money, that's a better place to put it than into the local highway. So I was actually starting to think things might turn around. I thought YAY!!! (*Small businesses have accounted for about 70% of the new jobs created over the past decade)

but wait... "Credit Elsewhere"?? What does that mean?
Psh... my hopes raised far too soon. I read more into it and found out that it looks a little bit like the mortgage crisis all over again. The Government wants to give out loans to those who can't get loans otherwise. I don't quite know how I feel about that. Have we not already gone over this? IT DID NOT WORK LAST TIME. I sure hope it's not what it looks like.

*Jonathan Weisman of the WSJ agrees with me. (hahaha, ok so I agree with him):
"Government watchdogs fear the potential for another debacle, similar to what happened in the mortgage crisis, in which poorly documented loans were granted by mortgage brokers, then shuffled off to banks and hedge funds as securities."

PS. when the GOA is nervous about it... shouldn't we be too?

Sen. Judd Gregg - Washington Times

Remember Gregg?

He thought he wanted to be a part of the Obama administration then had a serious realization... Here's what he said yesterday in the Washington Times:

"The budget the Obama administration has presented to the American people is a new type of budget: it expands our government in unprecedented ways and presents the largest tax increase in history. It raises total spending to $3.9 trillion in 2009, or 28 percent of gross domestic product, the highest level as a share of GDP since World War II.

In the next five years, the debt will double, and in 10 years, it will triple. This budget creates more debt than under every president from George Washington to George W. Bush combined … the Obama administration’s proposal is not a budget that the rest of America would recognize as a document for living within one’s means. It simply spends too much, taxes too much and borrows too much. It is a game plan for an explosive expansion of the size and intrusiveness of the national government based on a belief that bureaucrats can more effectively manage large segments of our economy and our daily lives than the private sector or the individual."

A glimmer of hope - spending isn't ALWAYS the best idea...

Sorry for the lack of posts... I didn't feel like anyone was reading. Then I realized that even if there are only 4 people reading my posts... it's 4 people I can either expose something to, or learn from.

So here I am.
I'm back.

Writing theses things out and hearing back from you, really helps me to better understand what's going on. I almost lost hope in everything for a while. I wasn't watching the news, wasn't reading as much... I just felt like every time I did the pit in my stomach grew. I know it's not the end of the world to a have a spend happy liberal super majority, but it sure feels like it with this global financial crisis.

I thought everyone was going crazy thinking this spending monstrosity was a good idea... then today a glimmer of hope... http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/11/nervous.dems/index.html

even some democrats are starting to realize...

we'll see where everything goes from here.
but I'm back...

I figure the only things I can do are...
A. Get the word out to people I know (if blogging is one of those ways, so be it)
B. Write/Call/Contact my Senators
C. Be informed
D. Vote

I'm going to do what I can.
one little blog post at a time...
