Romney care' touted as a model for national health care reform on CNN.COM!

(CNN) -- If Washington wants health care reform with bipartisan support, experts say consider what former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney accomplished as governor in Democratic Massachusetts.

Interesting that CNN.com would post something on their home page leaning toward a Republican's idea for healthcare...don't worry about it, they covered themselves by saying... 'Romney care' is the same as 'Obama care' minus the public option. BAHA. CNN, you should've left that line out.

It seems to me the mainstream media doesn't want to believe that people are ACTUALLY nervous about the whole Obamacare fiasco. The media is supposed to be the government watchdog, and instead it's some kind of little bo peep watching it's control hungry, socialist sheep. We have the right to our voice, so the people let it be heard at their townhall meetings, and the media says it's just a bunch of insurance companies and far right conservatives trying to pack the room and make a statement...

well, either way, the people showed up and were mad about Obamacare. Let me say that again, THE PEOPLE...

All this healthcare stuff can get a little confusing. I found this article that really helped me sort it all out. It shows the problems with Medicaid and how that relates to what is happening with the reform in store for us now.

A Road Map for Medicaid Reform

My two favorite and important blips from the article:

Principles for Long-Term Medicaid Reform
First, policymakers should focus on approaches that are patient-centered instead of system-centered. The current Medicaid structure is based on a system that reimburses providers for the services that they supply to beneficiaries. A patient-centered approach would direct Medicaid funds to the patient and reflect the individual needs of that patient.
Today, Medicaid is dictated by a one-size-fits-all approach that provides care to a very diverse group of individuals. Instead, the program should focus on providing assistance that recognizes this diversity and should design policy solutions that, while they may differ, best serve the unique needs of the individual, whether a healthy child or an elderly adult with chronic conditions.

I heard today "Peace does not mean, no conflict". THere will always be conflict with leaders such as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. I mean get real, he doesn't believe in the Holocaust and is doing everything in his power to build nuclear weapons.

Do we seriously see Rush Limbaugh as more of threat than Ahmadinejad?

Stop getting on the back of Rush, Hannity, Cheney and the past.

I'm fascinated by Mitt Romney.

This article really struck my fancy because I have been thinking a lot about those who voted for Obama in hopes of change with our international relations. He campaigned as a charismatic, well-spoken leader in hopes of peace... this was hopeful for all of us. However, charisma does not solve our problems considering Cuba, Korea and more. We need more than charimsa in the international scope.

I like what Mitt has to say here. He says it so well, and so nonabrasive. Check it out here.

Here are their budget goals listed in the "Path to American Prosperity" - The House Republican Budget Alternative (yes it's 65 pgs - and yes skimming and searching is always an option)
To Restore Growth, Jobs, and Economic Leadership. It supports a vibrant free-market sector by limiting the size and scope of government; it provides for low taxes and a competitive tax code; and it promotes a robust, diverse energy network that is under Americans’ control.
To Control the Nation’s Debts. It halts the borrow-and-spend philosophy that brought about today’s economic problems, and puts a stop to heaping ever-growing debts on future generations – and does so by controlling spending and not raising taxes.

Points I especially like:
Deficits. The budget achieves lower deficits than the Obama/Democratic budget in every year, and by 2019 yields half the deficit proposed in the President’s budget.

Taxes. The budget does not raise taxes. It also reduces the corporate tax to 25 percent from the current 35 percent, second-highest in the industrialized world. Finally, the budget holds the average tax burden to the historical average of about 18.3 percent of gross domestic product.

Sen. Bob Corker said it wasn't just the forced ouster of General Motors Corp. CEO Rick Waggoner that caused him concern. He accused the administration of taking a "we know best" attitude in connection with the problems in the domestic industry and said that should "send a chill throughout the country."

Interviewed Tuesday on CBS's "The Early Show," Corker charged that Waggoner's firing "was something of a sideshow to take away from the fact that no real progress" had been made in negotiations to steady the failing auto company.

Corker said, "We're evolving into a place that this country has not seen. I want to raise alarm bells."

Obama is supposed to set up a Small Business Loan - Plan.

When I first heard this, I thought... well if you're going to spend all this money, that's a better place to put it than into the local highway. So I was actually starting to think things might turn around. I thought YAY!!! (*Small businesses have accounted for about 70% of the new jobs created over the past decade)

but wait... "Credit Elsewhere"?? What does that mean?
Psh... my hopes raised far too soon. I read more into it and found out that it looks a little bit like the mortgage crisis all over again. The Government wants to give out loans to those who can't get loans otherwise. I don't quite know how I feel about that. Have we not already gone over this? IT DID NOT WORK LAST TIME. I sure hope it's not what it looks like.

Sorry for the lack of posts... I didn't feel like anyone was reading. Then I realized that even if there are only 4 people reading my posts... it's 4 people I can either expose something to, or learn from.

So here I am.
I'm back.

Writing theses things out and hearing back from you, really helps me to better understand what's going on. I almost lost hope in everything for a while. I wasn't watching the news, wasn't reading as much... I just felt like every time I did the pit in my stomach grew. I know it's not the end of the world to a have a spend happy liberal super majority, but it sure feels like it with this global financial crisis.

Burden of Debt Weighed on Family in Murder-Suicide - by Kylie

You’ve probably heard of the man who killed himself and his entire family in California Tuesday morning. The only question I have for this guy is; “Really? You couldn’t think of anything better to do in this situation than killing your wife and 5 kids?” Come on! If you read the Times article, found here (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/29/us/29family.html?_r=1&ref=us), you’ll find that this family had taken out three mortgages and filed for bankruptcy once already. They also recently remodeled their home.

I can understand that some people are having a rough time right now. We all live in daily fear of unemployment. It’s a scary place, out there in today’s market. But to kill your innocent children? I can’t believe this guy.

Get a clue people. It’s time to start living like we’re in an economic crisis. You can live without a huge house, without fancy toys, without a big screen TV, without a two-car garage, even without two cars if necessary. I know it seems difficult, but is living without these things really worse than not living at all? Possibly, instead of using our tax dollars to fund vacations for AIG employees, we should invest in some budgeting/personal finance classes for the citizens of America.

I heard some people talking in the elevator. "Poor Prez, he's had a lot of bumps along this Presidential road already, but everybody has dirt".

Do they? Most people I know, pay their taxes.

THE ECONOMIC STIMULUS PLAN from Whitehouse.gov and my notes (in red) as to how each could directly affect our economy...

Doubling the production of alternative energy in the next three years. - It seems like our economy would boost with cheaper energy. I just hope that 'alternative energy' will make the cost go down and not up. I also hope there's a combination of alternative, with us drilling to have more in general and helping us as we become less dependent on foreign oil sources.
Modernizing more than 75% of federal buildings and improve the energy efficiency of two million American homes, saving consumers and taxpayers billions on our energy bills. I think reconstruction can wait until after the recession, I don't see how a new AC is going to help the economy. Maybe they're confusing economy with climate?
Making the immediate investments necessary to ensure that within five years, all of America’s medical records are computerized. I really don't see how THIS helps the economy.
Equipping tens of thousands of schools, community colleges, and public universities with 21st century classrooms, labs, and libraries. This is great too, but still not seeing the correlation to the economy.
Expanding broadband across America, so that a small business in a rural town can connect and compete with their counterparts anywhere in the world. How can they compete with no job? Since this is an "economic plan" maybe we should talk about how to FORM those jobs?
Investing in the science, research, and technology that will lead to new medical breakthroughs, new discoveries, and entire new industries. This is a big one, and new discoveries could lead to new jobs... but how much are you investing? Are you investing in the public sector, where it will actually help people's jobs... or just give more money to government organizations?

If you can explain to me, why these are the MOST IMPORTANT bullet points they could come up with during our time of economic crisis, I would greatly appreciate it.

Our Crisis: Our crisis began with the Papa Government getting too happy about giving everyone what they want. Papa Government said, “hey American constituent kiddos, be easier on people by giving them loans when they can’t pay their rent, and just crashed their car”.

What led us to our crisis?

Papa Government didn’t let his little kiddos live their own lives and make their own mistakes. It’s not Papa Governments responsibility to give the constituents everything they want… just to make sure they don’t kill each other.

Our lives are based on thinking we can have everything we want, even though we don’t deserve it, and yes I said deserve it. Cringe if you will, but what makes you think you deserve to have a house, if you can’t even make your rent payment each month?

We’re headed into an even bigger crisis, by doing exactly what got us into this mess. Credit. Instead of taxing us, the new administration and even our senators want to tack on more to our deficit (crediting).

Dear American constituent kiddos,

We will not be raising taxes (this is where everyone stops reading and throws away the letter), however… you owe us 1.31 trillion If Congress passes an $800 billion, two-year stimulus bill.

Republican Jim Bunning of Kentucky told Geithner his failure to pay the taxes fully until just before his selection by Obama was announced was "hard to explain to my constituents who pay these taxes on a regular basis."

Grassley said he recognizes that many in Congress view Geithner, who worked closely with the outgoing administration on Wall Street's meltdown as head of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, as "possibly the only man for the job of healing the recession before us and a very fractured economy."

Geithner's our new Treasury Secretary, unfortunately he didn't know how to pay his taxes for a few years, helped with our current economic crisis and is going to lead us into an even darker red hole of debt. My thoughts: They couldn't think of someone else that could do this job? Sad. I can think of a few Republicans, but you're right... not many democrats.

their angle is so "forgiving" ... but notice that Obama's is paid for by the feds, and Bush's was private funds. Interesting.

I think this was a projection from before the fact. This is the the article accused below...
